By means of this infusion, an ordinary shield (or disc of metal or wood, such as a plate, in times of emergency) is imbued with magical protection against one type of energy, specified when the infusion is concocted. All creatures within 10’ of the infused object are invulnerable to energy damage of the specified type, being immune to mundane damage of the chosen type, and automatically succeeding in saving throws against mundane effects of the chosen type. Protected creatures also reduce extraordinary damage of the chosen type by 1 point per die and receive a +2 bonus on saving throws against abilities that deal extraordinary damage of the chosen type.

This effect ends immediately if the infused object is dropped or set down.
