By means of this infusion, an ordinary shield (or disc of metal or wood, such as a plate, in times of emergency) is imbued with magical sphere of protection in a 5’ radius. All spells of 1^st, 2^nd, or 3^rd level are excluded from penetrating the sphere; their areas of effect will simply not include areas covered by the sphere. 4^th level and higher effects are unaffected. Spells cast inside the sphere can still affect areas outside the sphere as normal. The sphere itself can be targeted by dispelling effects of any level.

This effect ends immediately if the infused object is dropped or set down.
