By means of this infusion, an ordinary shield (or disc of metal or wood, such as a plate, in times of emergency) is imbued with the magical ability to deflect mundane arrows, boulders, bolts, bullets, and thrown objects. All such attacks aimed within 5’ of the affected object are deflected. For ranged attacks with an area of effect, roll for scatter (but the scattered attack may not land within 5’ of the Aegis). It is possible that protected characters will still end up within the area of such effects and suffer any consequences.

Attacks made with silver weapons are considered extraordinary for the purposes of this spell. A character need not be proficient with shields or the weapon and shield fighting style to benefit from this infusion, carrying the shield as an object is sufficient (it will not grant any other bonuses if not actually used as a shield).

This effect ends immediately if the infused object is dropped or set down.
