By means of this infusion, two ordinary pieces of copper wire are attuned. One is designated as a sender, the other as a reciever. Unlike whisperwire, a greater whisperwire’s receiver only works for its concoctor (and thus typically the concoctor will have the wire pre-wrapped around his ear). For as long as the receiver is wrapped around his ear and the concoctor concentrates, he can hear sounds through the sending wire; in doing so he consciously ignores sounds coming through his own ears (effectively replacing his normal hearing).

The effect can only be used while the two wires are within range of one another, but it does not end if they are brought out of range; the signal can be restored if they are brought back within range before the duration expires.
