Cloak of Deception

Warcraft technique — see Magic and Spells for the rules and the Technique Index for the full list.

Apprentice — The warlord is surrounded by 1d4 illusory duplicates. They move through each other and the warlord constantly, mimicking his every action, so that no attacker can tell which is real. An enemy attacking or casting a spell at the warlord always strikes a duplicate instead; any attack on a duplicate destroys it, hit or miss, and an attack spell cast directly on one destroys it with no saving throw. Area effects appear to affect all duplicates exactly as they affect the warlord, and do not destroy any duplicates. A sweep attack must target every remaining duplicate separately. This technique ends immediately if the warlord performs another technique or casts a spell.

Initiate — As apprentice, but instead of being surrounded by duplicates, the warlord becomes invisible for the duration. Attacking does not reveal him, but the technique still ends immediately if he performs another technique or casts a spell.

Journeyman — As initiate, but the cloak no longer falters: performing a technique or casting a spell does not cause it to end.

Master — As journeyman, but the warlord may extend the invisibility effect to any creatures he chooses within 10’ of himself as he initiates. These creatures remain invisible only while they remain within 10’ of him; a creature that leaves becomes visible and cannot become invisible again by returning, though the cloak persists for everyone else.

Grand Master — As master, but the duration increases to 3 turns.
