Comet Throw
Warcraft technique — see Magic and Spells for the rules and the Technique Index for the full list.
Apprentice — By use of this technique, the warlord throws a touched creature. An attack throw is required against an unwilling target. If the attack throw is successful, an unwilling creature is allowed a saving throw versus Paralysis to avoid the effect. If the save fails, the creature is thrown up to 20’. The warlord may himself leap up to 20’ in any direction either before or after this throw.
This technique has no effect on creatures greater than 40 stone in weight. If the warlord wishes to fling the creature into another creature, or onto a specific hard-to-reach location (such as a balcony or pit), he must make another successful attack throw. Creatures flung into walls or other hard surfaces will suffer bludgeoning damage. Creatures will also deal bludgeoning damage to whatever they strike. The amount of damage is based on the flung creature’s weight, as shown on the adjoining table. Large flung creatures also deal damage to an area of effect around their point of impact. Creatures in this area can avoid all damage with a successful Blast saving throw, but creatures actually struck by the flung object cannot. Damage from flung creatures converts into shp at a rate of 1 shp per 5 points of damage.
Initiate — As apprentice, but unwilling creatures no longer get a saving throw to resist.
Journeyman — As initiate, but the warlord may now throw up to three touched creatures, of up to 200 stone each. One of the creatures “thrown” in this way may be himself (before, between, or after throwing other targets). If the warlord uses his own leap to follow the first target, he may select that target again as his third target.
Master — As journeyman, but any unwilling creature thrown this way must also drop any held objects it was carrying, which fall to the ground where the creature was standing.
Grand Master — As master, but the targets need no longer be creatures — the warlord may throw objects as readily as creatures, up to 200 stone each.
