Apprentice — With this technique, the warlord sets themselves to punish every blow that goes wide. The warlord must be wielding a weapon in both hands — whether one two-handed weapon or two separate ones — to perform this technique. For 1 round they gain a +2 bonus to armour class. Whenever the warlord is missed by a melee attack, they may immediately make a melee attack against the creature whose attack missed, once in the round.

Initiate — As apprentice, but the bonus to armour class increases to +3, and the warlord may answer twice in the round rather than once.

Journeyman — As initiate, but the bonus to armour class increases to +4.

Master — As journeyman, but the warlord may answer three times in the round.

Grand Master — As master, and what does land glances off: for the duration the warlord takes half damage from ordinary melee weapons.
