Shadow Cleave

Warcraft technique — see Magic and Spells for the rules and the Technique Index for the full list.

Apprentice — The warlord can maim or dismember a target with a touch. He makes a melee attack against his target. If the attack throw succeeds, the target must immediately save versus Death. If the victim succeeds the throw, they have resisted the technique. A failed save will cause 1d6 extraordinary necrotic damage and force the victim to immediately roll on the Savage Mortal Wounds table and suffer the result listed under Permanent Wounds Suffered. When rolling on the Mortal Wound table due to dismember, the only modifiers that apply are those from CON and HD. The target does not suffer from the results listed in the Condition & Recovery column of the table. Any permanent wounds suffered are instantly cauterized, healed, scarred over, etc.

Initiate — As apprentice, but the range increases to 30’, no attack throw is required, and the damage on a failed save increases to 2d6.

Journeyman — As initiate, but the range increases to 90’ and the damage on a failed save increases to 3d6.

Master — As journeyman, but the target must now save versus Death or be instantly slain. On a successful save, the target suffers 2d6+2 damage.

Grand Master — As master, but the target now suffers 4d6+4 damage on a successful save.
