Apprentice — With a touch, the warlord plants a seed of harm too subtle to be felt. An attack throw is required to touch an unwilling target, but an unsuspecting target may allow themselves to e.g. shake the warlord’s hand as he performs the technique (Judge’s discretion; this will be easier if the warlord is proficient in Quiet Magic). The technique has no immediate effect; instead, at any point within the following week, the warlord may trigger the effect at will. Once triggered, the target suffers 2d6 extraordinary necrotic damage.
Initiate — As apprentice, but when the effect is triggered, a target of less than 2 HD must attempt a saving through versus Death. If the save fails, the target the target loses 1d8 maximum hit points and becomes enervated. The target suffers the necrotic damage regardless of the saving throw result.
When an enervated creature wakes from restful sleep each day, it must make a Death save or lose one additional maximum hp. If the creature rests in a pinnacle of good, it gains a bonus to its save: +1 for an illuminated pinnacle, +2 for a hallowed pinnacle, and +4 for a sacrosanct pinnacle. If the creature does not gain 8 hours of restful sleep in a day, it automatically fails the save. To end the enervated condition, the creature must pass three such saves consecutively. A creature unlucky enough to have its hp reduced to 0 in this way is slain. A creature that advances in level can re-roll its maximum hit points using its full Hit Dice, but leveling itself does not end the enervated condition.
Journeyman — As initiate, but the hp loss and enervation can now affect creatures of less than 5 Hit Dice, rather than 2.
Master — As journeyman, but the hp loss and enervation can now affect creatures of less than 9 Hit Dice, rather than 5.
Grand Master — As master, but the hp loss and enervation can now affect creatures of any Hit Dice.
