Lhazaaran

The Lhazaarans are pale elves of distant Lhazaar. Legends say their kind, like the elves of Valeria, once held Marks of the Dragons now lost.

This page reflects what is currently believed in Bastion — and much of that belief traces to rumor, panic, and the testimony of interested parties.

Lhazaarans and Bastion

  • A Lhazaaran community long lived in Bastion’s Elf Alley, under Count Vurnor Leng’s tenuous peace.
  • That peace has collapsed. A night attack on two guards was blamed on “a pale-skinned elf” (Session 11); at the subsequent trial, witnesses testified the victims had been taking Lhazaaran bribes in Elf Alley, and the town nearly rioted (Session 13).
  • Since then, Bastion’s Lhazaarans have been rounded up or fled, and patrols hunt Lhazaarans on the roads (Session 15).
  • The Count’s forces have clashed with Lhazaaran troops in the countryside, taking prisoners who are exchanged for food and concessions (Session 14).

The invasion rumor

Zydell — himself a Valerian newcomer — arrived bearing news that the Lhazaarans plan an invasion of Bastion and have already established a base in the Shadowmount Forest (Session 11). Count Roland Varnel of Teryk had little help to offer: the borderlands legions were long ago called south for the Empress’s next war against Valeria (Session 16).

Stub — to expand: who the Lhazaarans are on their own terms, their homeland, and their Queen — as and when the party learns it.
