Lucius Furlan
Lucius Furlan is one of the wealthiest merchants of Vedycaer and the owner of the Mink, the most storied tavern in the city. A handsome man of indeterminate age with a lean build, a carefully groomed goatee, and the faintly pointed ears of elven bloodline, he is charming, cultured, and very hard to read.
He made his fortune in fine Caernathi antiquities — relics of the old realm, prized by collectors and nobles as far away as Making. By his own telling, the gift runs in the family: Furlan claims descent from the original Caernathi inhabitants through a Sairan adventurer who fought in the conquest, retired to the north, and married a war-bride, and he grew up on his family’s stories of where the old wealth was hidden. Those stories, he says, are what let him find forgotten ruins that others had picked past.
Beyond the Mink he owns a string of cantinas and taverns across the Old District and runs a legitimate venture company — barges on the Darkwater and a caravan line out to Caerlakton.
Dealing with him
Furlan is gracious to adventurers and merchants alike; the Mink is his front room, and he likes to hear a good tomb-raiding tale. He pays well for Caernathi relics and knows everyone worth knowing in the city.
Rumor
Street talk ties Furlan and the Mink to the Caernathi Family, the smuggling syndicate said to rule the Old District’s underworld. Nothing has ever been proven, and Furlan laughs it off.
