Vedycaer is a great city of Caernath — the largest market the company Pashlatine’s Company traded in during Campaign I (a Class III market), reached from Teryk by way of Fort Talon. It is a city of merchant guilds, arcane towers, temples, and gladiatorial games, riding atop a churning underworld of syndicates and stranger things in the sewers below.

This overview is drawn only from what Pashlatine’s Company saw and did here during Campaign I; deeper history and geography will be added later.
Districts and landmarks
- The Old District — the oldest quarter. Its public latrines open into the sewers, and beneath the sewers lie older ruins still.
- The Festival District — gambling houses and entertainment, including the Silk Pony Inn.
- The Tower of Knowledge — the city’s arcane institution, where magic items are identified and records kept, overseen by a Provost with lieutenants and apprentices.
- The House of Curiosities — Damonos’s shop of relics, oddities, and hard-to-place provenance.
- The Emporium — market for masterwork arms and armor and exotic goods; haunt of a House Cannith mastermaker, a gladiatorial auctioneer, and an exotic-animal trainer.
- The Mink Inn — the establishment of Lucius Furlan’s “Family.”
- The Temple of Numilvara (the “Hospital of the Goddess”) — healing, dispel magic, and even Restore Life and Limb, for those willing to be seen by the Goddess.
- The church of Talavosh — restorations, granted under the god’s judging eye.
- The gladiatorial arena and its schools — including that of Maxwell Silvermane; the games draw beasts, convicts, and captives from across the region.
The undercity
Beneath Vedycaer’s sewers lie the buried bones of an older city. During Campaign I, rival wererat packs delved these tunnels searching for a fabled “Nethercity” rumored to hold the secrets of necromantic immortality; Pashlatine’s Company found and destroyed their shrines to the Horned Rat and to Dyrrn the Corrupter before the search could bear fruit. The ruined city of Metrol, a place of broken spires, lies within a few days’ ride, on the road out toward the Talenta Plains.
Powers and factions
- The Watch — the city guard, quick to arrest and slow to release (Captain Gundus).
- The Family — Lucius Furlan’s syndicate, marked by a red-wolf sigil and run out of the Mink Inn.
- The Sewer Rats — a wererat brood led by Nicolai Selenium and the magus Provost Mentenus; largely broken by the company’s campaign against them.
- The Brotherhood of Knives — a shadowy band of changeling assassins-for-hire, implicated in the murder of the Levonday parents.
