Drow
The Drow are a subtle people of the elven kind, marked by a gift for stealth and guile and — like most elves — a natural affinity for both magic and swordplay. They keep largely to themselves, dwelling in glens and hidden fastnesses and holding their affairs apart from outsiders.
Drow society was historically matriarchal, and though time and outside pressure have pushed it toward something more egalitarian, matriarchs still rule the largest glens and hold the greater share of political power. Publicly they proclaim worship of Numilvara, the Tiger Prince, or the Flame-Which-Binds itself; quieter rumors hold that some revere ancient spider-demons and scorpion-gods. The drow are known, too, for their fine wines and incenses — and for less reputable vices, the illicit substances and unspoken services that make smuggling and clandestine brokerage a natural drow trade.
