Szorowai

Sovereign of Rage and Ruin.

One does not need a priest to speak to Szorowai. She already knows your rage and sorrow.

Everyone is wronged. Most people swallow it — they count the cost, weigh the odds, and decide that justice is not worth the trouble. Szorowai is the voice that holds that grudge, and nurses it. Forever.

When her followers fight, they are terrifying foes. They forsake all care for their own safety, bringing righteous wrath to bear against their foes. They boil the blood of their foes, and cut them to pieces. Her followers are forbidden to forgive, and must never forget.

Traditions that teach her: the Archaist and the Dwarven Forgepriest alike.

Her worship day is Zor, high in the week, when there is still time to resolve her passion that burns. She shares Zor with Rowa, whose passion brings life.

Strictures

Archaist and Dwarven Forgepriest

• A follower of Szorowai must cut into his own flesh a mark for every wrong done him.
• Each day he must spend one hour (6 turns) at dusk tracing these marks and recalling the wrongs they stand for. On Zor, Szorowai’s holy day, he must reopen the mark of every wrong still unpaid (taking at least 1 hp of damage).
• A follower of Szorowai who is wronged must repay it threefold. He may not forgive the wrong or sell it to another.
• A follower of Szorowai must not wear a calm face over an angry heart. He may not make false peace with one he means to ruin, nor let a wrong be thought forgiven.

The debt of wrath

An eye for an eye is commerce, not justice. Szorowai demands that wrongdoers suffer for their sins. To extract payment in equal coin adds insult to a victim’s injury.

By his own hand. An acolyte may use others as tools or agents of his retribution, but he alone must own it. The foe must know who sent their doom, and for what cause.

The grudge may be nursed. While Szorowai always hungers for her wrath to be sated quickly, she also knows the value of patience. Her follower may carry an open mark for years, decades, or even centuries, before unleashing her fury at the perfect moment for maximum effect.
