Fire Trap

Spell — see Magic and Spellcasting for the rules and the Spell Index for the full list.

Divine 2 Type: blast, elemental (fire)

Range: touch Duration: special

This spell wards a touched item with a magical trap. The trap is nigh-invisible, able to be detected as a trap or by spells such as discern magic and true seeing. While casting the spell, you can choose any creatures present (including yourself) to be attuned to the spell; attuned creatures will not trigger the trap. If any other creatures open or manipulate the object, they are engulfed in a fiery explosion, dealing 2d6+2 extraordinary fire damage to all creatures within a radius of 5’. Affected creatures take half damage on a successful Blast saving throw.

The entrapped object never takes damage directly from this spell, though if other objects nearby are set aflame, the fire may spread back to the object. This spell is permanent until it is either discharged, dispelled, or ends with the death of the caster.
