The character is knowledgeable on a variety of esoteric subjects. At 1^st level, the character can make a proficiency throw of 18+ to decipher occult runes, remember ancient history, or identify a historic artifact or special monster part. The proficiency throw required reduces by 1 per level. The character can identify magic items as if he were a 5^th level mage. If the character can already identify magic items, he can do so with a +2 bonus to his magic research throw and +10% bonus to his research rate.
