The Merchant Guild controls licensed trade in Vedycaer. It licenses merchants and professionals to do business in the city, administers the Emporium, runs auctions, brokers deals, and lends money — the machinery that keeps a Class III market, one of the largest a Borderlands venturer will ever work, running from dawn to dusk.
Its seat is the Merchant Guildhouse at the northern edge of the Emporium, where the wealthiest merchants gather in the trading hall to move precious goods and to solicit passengers and shipping contracts. Where common goods change hands out in the Emporium, precious merchandise trades here, under the guild’s eye and its cut.
Banking
The Guildhouse keeps a banking branch that stores wealth, lends and borrows, exchanges currency, and offers investment opportunities to approved clients. Domain rulers are approved as a matter of course; venturers and hard bargainers find the door opens easier than it does for most, if they can make the case.
The Guildmaster
The guild answers to Guildmaster Kallas Meteron, who presides over its licenses, its auctions, and its ledgers. To the merchants of the Old District he is simply the man whose seal a trader needs to do business in Vedycaer.
