Dolorah

Sovereign of Sun and Sacrifice.

Dolorah is the flame which burns so that others may see bright days. She gives of herself to pour light and warmth on everything beneath her, and asks nothing in return. Her followers carry light into dark places and burn out what evils might fester there. Her power allows them to call fire from the sky or exorcise dark forces.

Your light must carry through tomorrow, no matter the cost. Whatever darkness is before your community, you will face it head on, and spend yourself if necessary to defy it. Her chosen are not those who simply bask in the sun’s light, they are those who are willing to burn to be a part of it.

Traditions that teach her: the Archaist.

Her worship day is Far, near the week’s end, when the light has done its work. She shares Far with Ollarasht, the Sovereign of Feast and Fortune.

Strictures

• A follower of Dolorah must bear the sun of Dolorah openly when in public, that all may know her devotion.
• At first light each day, a follower of Dolorah must face the rising sun in prayer. Offering prayer takes one hour (6 turns).
• A follower of Dolorah must set herself between the strong and the weak. She may not abandon to harm any helpless soul that her body or her blade could shield.
• A follower of Dolorah must never use her divine magic to bring darkness into the world, nor to bring harm to an innocent, nor to any who have surrendered to her in good faith.

The cost of the light

The shield need not break lightly. Dolorah asks her followers to spend themselves against the darkness before them, and to sacrifice for it at need. She does not require them to spend their lives for naught.
