The Tairnadal culture that dominates Valeria is based on people emulating the lives of their patron ancestors. The majority of these ancestors became legends by fighting a guerilla war against the civilized giants of Xen’drik; thus, the whole of Valerian society is based on constant raiding and instigating conflict against any foe that might provide them with a worthy challenge.

Characters belonging to one of the Valerian classes of the zailtairn caste(which includes all those presented in this wiki) will gain certain class powers based on the character’s patron. When creating a new Valerian character, you can use the one selected by your template, choose from one of those described below, or work with your Judge to create a new one. The specific powers granted by a particular patron will vary depending on the character’s specific class.
