Classes

In ACKSBERRON, there are two major types of classes: human classes and racial classes. Humans are the dominant sapient race on Corva, driven by a combination of ambition, courage, cunning, and the blessings of Numilvara. On an individual level, humans classes tend to specialize in one aspect of gameplay; as a result, the species itself can typically call upon mastery in a generalized fashion.

Compared to humans, other sapient races are rarer and tend to be more specialized. Each race has its own custom set of classes, which tend to combine a chosen aspect of gameplay with the race’s area of focus, leading to more generalized individuals, but a species which is focused on a specific capability. For example, the orcblooded freebooter is as ferocious in direct combat as it is with stealth, while the drow nightblade dabbles in arcane spellcasting to supplement its prowess as a deadly assassin.

Most classes will be presented with pre-generated templates, with armor, weapons, equipment, proficiencies, and spells ready for play. If desired, a character can roll for template rather than starting wealth, in order to facilitate speedy play. If the template’s choices are not congruent with a player’s desire, it is always allowed to select a lower template on the list. If the character has a high INT, they will still need to choose bonus general proficiencies (or leave those slots open to be filled during play). Templates for any class with INT as a prime requisite will include one suggested general proficiency in bold as well as a second known spell, under the assumption that most such characters will have at least a +1 INT bonus. Should you choose such a template without an INT bonus, remove the bolded proficiency and the second spell listed in the template.
