Count Vurnor Leng
Count Vurnor Leng rules the frontier town of Bastion and the lands around it. A giant of a man — over seven feet tall, with graying golden-blond hair and a silver circlet — he earned his place through years of soldiering and the active defense of his town.
For much of the past year the Count was bedridden and near death from a wasting sickness: food turned to ash in his mouth, and his voice faded to a rasped whisper. His physicians identified it as magical, and his offered reward — 600 gp for a cure — is what first sent adventurers toward the Sunless Citadel and its rumored healing fruit (Session 1). He was finally cured by a pure white apple delivered by The Black Puddings (Session 13), and quietly released the last slice of it to cure Vezhka’s disease in exchange for the party’s discretion (Session 15).
Position
- Holds a tenuous peace with the Lhazaaran elves, strained by recent attacks, bribery scandals, and roundups in Bastion.
- His forces have clashed with Lhazaaran troops in the countryside; prisoners are being exchanged for food and concessions.
- Has expressed interest in what help the ruler of Teryk might offer against the Lhazaaran threat — but Count Roland Varnel had little to spare.
- Husband of Contessa Leng. His household guard is commanded by Captain Felosiel.
